چکیده

Accurate estimations of daily mean land surface temperature (LST) are important for investigating the urban heat island effect, land-atmosphere energy exchanges, and global climate change. Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) sensors can provide up to four instantaneous LSTs a single day across world. However, numerous studies, such as those on change hydrology, require input rather than value. In this paper, we propose practical method estimate LST using products derived from MODIS. Based in situ measurements collected 235 sites distributed globally, multiple linear regressions two valid at different MODIS observations moments (at least one daytime nighttime observations) reliable estimates under all-weather conditions with root square error (RMSE) less 1.60 K. addition, clouds would affect estimation accuracy certain extent. Subsequently, an algorithm is proposed produce most complete coverage Validation results show that estimated MOD11A1 MYD11A1 similar LST, RMSE 2.17 Furthermore, data successfully applied calculate annual cycle parameters (ACPs) (ATC) model. The study be retrieved accurately combinations We expect our findings will useful various applications involving trend analysis

Disaggregation of SMAP radiometric soil moisture measurements at catchment scale using MODIS land surface temperature data

Satellite soil moisture observations often require the enhancement of spatial resolution prior to being used in climatic and hydrological studies. This study employs the thermal inertia theory to downscale the 36 km radiometric data of the NASA’s Soil Moisture Active/Passive Mission (SMAP) into 1 km resolution. Regressions between daily temperature difference and daily mean soil moisture were e...

Validating MODIS land surface temperature products using long-term nighttime ground measurements

The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS), onboard the NASA Terra and Aqua Earth Observing System satellites, provides multiple land surface temperature (LST) products on a daily basis. However, these products have not been adequately validated. This paper presents preliminary results of validating two MODIS Terra daily LST products, MOD11_L2 (version 4) and MOD07_L2 (version 4)...

Estimation of Daily Air Temperature Based on MODIS Land Surface Temperature Products over the Corn Belt in the US

Air temperature (Ta) is a key input in a wide range of agroclimatic applications. Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) Ts (Land Surface Temperature (LST)) products are widely used to estimate daily Ta. However, only daytime LST (Ts-day) or nighttime LST (Ts-night) data have been used to estimate Tmax/Tmin (daily maximum or minimum air temperature), respectively. The relationshi...

Estimation of Herbaceous Fuel Moisture Content Using Vegetation Indices and Land Surface Temperature from MODIS Data

The monitoring of herbaceous fuel moisture content is a crucial activity in order to assess savanna fire risks. Faced with the difficulty of managing wide areas of vegetated surfaces, remote sensing appears an attractive alternative for terrestrial measurements because of its advantages related to temporal resolution and spatial coverage. Earth observation (EO)-based vegetation indices (VIs) an...
